Bees are still buzzing after three decades

There was a definite buzz in the air when the Busy Bees nursery celebrated its 30th anniversary.

Staff and children at the nursery, in Denvale Trade Park, Haslett Avenue East, dressed up and enjoyed party treats last Tuesday (November 19).

But there was more to the day than bumbling around eating cake and drinking juice.

Along with some 200 Busy Bees groups across the country, the nursery also attempted to break the record for the largest number of people dressed as bees at the same time.

The record currently stands at 2,100 and the nursery should find out at the end of the month if Busy Bees was successful.

As well as marking their big day and attempting to break a record, the Busy Bees raised money for Bliss – a charity which offers support to families with premature and sick babies.

Nursery manager Louise Weekes said: “The day went really well. The children enjoyed themselves and we hope to have broken the record.”
