Bexhill College open evening

Hundreds of prospective students and parents from around East Sussex flocked to Bexhill College to find out more on the variety of courses available and gain an insight into life at the college.

Each course had a tutor and students on hand to discuss course content, grades required for course entry as well as offering practical examples of day-to-day learning activities.

Principal Karen Hucker gave regular presentations highlighting the college's growing academic reputation as well as focussing on the range of extra-curricular activities on offer, the sports academy and the International Baccalaureate course available.

The further education college is well known for its high success rate at "A" Level, 97.4%, but also offers a wide range of vocational courses such as BTEC National Diplomas. From 2009 the College will also be one of the few places offering pupils the chance to study the New Diplomas in subjects such as Creative & Media, Health & Beauty and Construction & the Built Environment.

BTEC Award, Introduction to learning, GCSE re-sits,AS & A2 levels also feature in the College Prospectus giving Bexhill a wide ranging appeal for learners.

One parent commented: "I was very impressed by the amount of help and information available. My daughter was unsure of the exact direction she wanted to take but after tonight she has a definite course she would like to apply for. All she needs now are the grades."

A college spokesman said: "It's been a very busy evening. We had lots of positive feedback from both parents and pupils which is a credit to our staff and students who worked very hard to demonstrate what a positive and enjoyable environment Bexhill College is to learn in."
