Bexhill Farmers' Market

THE MONTHLY Bexhill Farmers Market at Parkhurst Hall displayed an abundance of homegrown produce including colourful fresh fruit and vegetables, cheeses, meat, bread, cakes, jams and chutneys.

Also on offer was a fascinating range of delicious homemade pies, sold by Sarah McCloud and her young assistant Katie Cousins. They included; steak and kidney, lamb and mint and for the more adventurous beef madras with pickled lime or, vegetable tagline containing honey, garlic, sultanas and almonds.

Grapefruit marmalade, rhubarb chutney, chilli and lime sausages the varied selection of produce was amazing and many products were quick to sell out. All the cheeses on 'Tom's' stall are British including Stilton from Nottingham, Blue Vinney from Dorset and, local cheddar from Stonegate.

Regular customers to the event Mr and Mrs John Dunn said they like to support the farmers market because they can buy, "local produce from around the area and homemade cakes which are so much nicer than ones you buy in the supermarkets."

Fairtrade teas and coffees were available. The next Farmers Market at Parkhurst Hall is on Thursday, September 27. For further information and future dates call 222969.
