Big green cardyto make return

ORGANISERS have confirmed the popular Big Green Cardigan Festival will be back again this year in September.

Once again Cripps Corner is set to ring with sounds from all corners of the globe.

But unlike many other events the organisers are nor making claims for ‘bigger and better’ - instead numbers will be limited again to retain the relaxed feel of a boutique festival.

What will be the fourth Big Green Cardigan festival will be held over the weekend of September 5 - 7 at Cripps Corner just opposite Sedlescombe Vineyard.

Organiser Mick Hoad said: “We don’t claim to be bigger and better for 2014, as we do not want to be bigger as our philosophy is intimate, chilled, relaxed and not big and brash.”

He went on to say: “For those unaware of The Big Green Cardigan, it is bit of an old school festival with no gimmicks; it is a festival for music lovers where the audience are genuinely interested in listening too, and discovering new acts.

“Many festivals claim it, but we do it, there is no distinctive music style, the theme is, there is no theme.

“Varieties of music booked so far include blues/rock, a 1930’s cocktail bar style band and a country singer from Nashville. Real music, real musicians, no tribute acts.

“Due to appear this year on our two stages , is a line-up of critically acclaimed artist which includes, LaVendore Rogue, Red Dirt Skinners, Jazz Morley, Sean De Burca and smattering of international artist including Buddy Mondlock (USA) and Sika (Australia) all mixed in with the best of our local talent. “

The festival will have local real ales and cider, a wine bar supplied by Sedlescombe vineyard and food all at sensible prices.

There will be adequate camping and enough clean toilets to go round.

Mick Hoad said: “ It is the full festival experience just down the road.

“As tickets will be in the hundreds rather than the thousands they are likely to go very fast. Earlybird Weekend tickets are now on sale at just £55 and what you see is what you pay, there are no extra cost, no hidden fees, no booking fee, no handling fee, no postage fee, no car park fee, no weekend camping fee (with the relevant ticket) and no fee for extra hand luggage.”

The Big Green Cardigan is not geared towards families and runs an over 18’s only policy.
