'˜Big name' stars lined up to take part in new music festival

More big-name entertainers - including Toploader and Boney M - are being lined up to take part in a three-day music festival near Horsham in August.

The festival - dubbed the Big Kahuna - is expected to attract up to 10,000 revellers to the site at Holmbush Forest over the Bank Holiday weekend from August 26-29.

Although the organisers are still awaiting the outcome of a licensing application for the event, they have already annnounced that legendary rockers Happy Mondays will be topping the bill.

A second line-up announced today (Monday February 22) features Boney M with Liz Mitchell, The Skints, Toploader, Mr C, Greg Wilson presents Super Weird Substance, Tru Thoughts Disco with J-Felix and Wrongtom, Disco Deviant featuring Pablo Contraband and Andy Mac, and Timo Garcia.

Also lined up to there are Paul Hartnoll (Orbital), Dub Pistols, English Disco Lovers, 808 State, Farley Jackmaster Funk, Carnival Collective, Faze Action, Norman Jay MBE, Marshall Jefferson, X-Press 2, Bushwacka! Utah Saints and Rhythm Masters.

Nine themed areas in the forest are planned with camping, theatre, silent disco, food, bars, bushcraft, interactive arts and crafts experiences, workshops, and more.

Organisers say weekend camping tickets are available now priced from £130 for adults.

However, objections to the festival have already been put forward by local residents who feel they were not told about the festival plans until ‘the last moment.’

A licensing application to stage the event has been lodged with Horsham District Council.
