Bognor man honoured for loyalty to TA

A Bognor Regis man's loyalty to the Terroritial Army has been recognised.

Sergeant Walter Brett was presented with the Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex's meritorious service certificate at a ceremony in Crawley.

The presentation was performed by the Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex, Peter Field.

The certificate signifies the way in which the Lord Lieutenant can thank the volunteer reservists and cadets throughout Sussex for their dedicated service.

Sgt Brett (29) parades with Brighton-based B Company The Princess Of Wales' Royal Regiment (3 PWRR).

He is an Environment Agency officer and has been in the TA for 11 years during which time he has shown loyalty, dedication and outstanding service to the reserve forces.

Dignitaries from across the county joined the Lord Lieutenants of East and West Sussex for the moving ceremony at Crawley's TA Centre which was also attended by family, friends, colleagues and employers of the 13 TA soldiers, cadet adult instructors and cadets who received awards.

Mr Field paid tribute to their hard work and commitment to the Territorial Army and thanked all the civilian employers for their understanding and support of staff serving in the volunteer reserves.
