The festival was held, on Midummer Day, as part of the Society’s fundraising campaign needed to stage their annual Bonfire Night celebrations which will this year be on Saturday October 4.

The event included a beer festival boasting numerous local ales at the Bonfire Boyes and Belles’ own ‘pub’, The Highwayman’s Inn.

There was a craft fayre with over 40 stallholders; a dog show; live music in the form of an open mic afternoon held under a paraquee, a parachute style marquee, as well as stalls and other attractions.

Hastings Model Flying Club took to the skies and gave flying displays throughout the afternoon and a mini funfair help to keep the youngsters occupied.

The Society run BBQ and tea and coffee stall kept everyone fed and watered through what turned out to be a scorching hot day.

Simon Merrick of Northiam Bonfire Society heralded the Mid-Summer Festival a complete success and said: “Months of planning all came to fruition and made the event more successful than we could ever have imagined.
