John Gregory has left his position as manager of Crawley Town.
The former Aston Villa boss, who had a year left on his contract, stepped down from his role in late December ahead of a heart operation.
Dean Saunders took the helm on an interim role until the end of the season, but after talks this week it has been confirmed that Gregory will not return.
Reds were relegated to League Two on the final day of the season with a 2-1 defeat to Coventry City.
A club statement read: “Crawley Town FC can today confirm that they have reached an agreement with John Gregory whereby he will leave his position as First Team Manager with immediate effect.
“John was appointed in December 2013 but unfortunately had to relinquish the role in December 2014 to undergo major heart surgery.
“Thankfully, John is now on the road to a full recovery and the Board of Directors would like to place on record their sincere thanks to John for his efforts during his time in charge and his continued support of the club during his recent illness. He will always be a welcome visitor to the Checkatrade.com Stadium.”
