The boss of Surrey and Sussex Healthcare Trust has been named as one of the top 50 chief executives in the NHS.
Michael Wilson was recognised in the Healthcare Journal (HSJ), which compiles an annual list of bosses who demonstrate ‘outstanding leadership’.
He said: “I am delighted to be on this list but success is a team effort and I think this is well deserved recognition of the commitment and dedication of all the staff at SASH.
“I have a fantastic group of people who work incredibly hard every day, providing high quality care and my thanks go to all of them.”
Michael has been leading the team at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs East Surrey Hospital, for six years.
The HSJ recognised Michael’s role in helping the trust become one of the top performing acute hospitals in the country and the magazine said he is now being talked about as a ‘system leader’.
A panel of expert judges looked at the care quality at each organisation as well the chief executive’s leadership, impact, patient focus, communication, mentorship and engagement skills.
Surrey and Sussex Healthcare Trust runs East Surrey Hospital in Rehill and provides services at Crawley and Horsham hospitals.
