BREAKING: Drivers warned to take care after heavy rain floods roads

SUSSEX Police is warning drivers to be cautious after heavy overnight rain flooded a number of roads across the county.

On the A259 in Angmering, motorists have reported seeing a stream of water flowing along the highway with traffic moving at a slower pace than normal.

The A29 at Bury Hill, near Arundel, has also been affected by the heavy rain water, much of which has fallen on already-waterlogged ground.

Likewise, commuters making their way along the A27 west, towards Chichester, have also faced delays due to flooded roads.

The Environment Agency has issued a number of flood alerts.

However, none have yet been issued for the Gazette area.

Police advice is to allow extra time for journeys, to be prepared to stop or find an alternative route and not to take chances if flooding is encountered.
