R.B.L Poppy Appeal: No one has come forward yet. There is an urgent need for a local organiser for the R.B.L. In the Brede, Boad Oak & Udimore area.

It requires dealing with the poppy stocks, preparing trays and collecting boxes and distributing them to the various collectors. After the poppy fortnight in October/November the trays and boxes are brought back and the money is counted and banked. A list of the current collectors, etc. is available, if you feel you might like to help please contact either Beryl Crouch 01424 882120 or John may 01424 882667

Mrs Dawn Novis will be leading this mornings service at the Methodist Church in Broad Oak at 10.30am.

Teddy Bears Parachute. Off St George’s Church Tower this afternoon, bring your favourite bear, soft toy and come and join the fun at 2.30pm Refreshments available.

Uniformed groups - Are closed for the summer holidays but all will be back in September. If you wish your child to join; then you will find the contact details below.The Guiding section meet in the small hall of Brede Village Hall; the Rainbows meet from 4.15- 5.15pm, they welcome girls aged between 5-7 years, the Brownies meet from 5pm – 6.30pm for girls 7-11 years old. They have some spaces in both groups. Julie Piper can be contacted for both on 01424 883464 or mobile 07863599537. You can also contact Hayley 07525168770 The Brede Scout sections are all held in the Scout Hut Stubbs Lane, Beavers welcome Boys and girls from 6 years old they meet from 5.15pm to 6.15pm. Tuesday 11 August: Pilates are in Udimore Community Hall at 9.15 and 10.25am Brede Painting for Pleasure group meet at 9.30 am in Brede Village Hall. Planning your August Bank Holiday Weekend? Make Brede your destination for at least one of the days. Marvel at the wonderful flower displays in St George’s Church for their annual Flower Festival and then go along the road to Brede Village Hall and enjoy the variety and competence of the Brede Painting for Pleasure group at their annual exhibition of work created in the past year. Free parking and refreshments available at both events.

Wednesday 12 August Pilates are in Udimore Community Hall at 9.15 and 10.25am.

Sadly Christine Comton has passed away and for those of you in Udimore and Brede who knew her and would like to pay your last respects her funeral is today, there will be a Service of Thanksgiving at St Mary’s Church Udimore at 2.30pm to which all are invited.

Thursday 13 August: Design with Flowers group meet today at 1.30pm in the Parish Room Waterworks Lane Brede, they will be doing their favourite arrangement so take what you like. Sunday 16 August: The Teddy Bears of the Parish have decided that they want another afternoon to parachute from St George’s Church Tower or use a zip wire. This event takes place from 2pm-4pm, why not ask your Teddy if he would like to join in the fun?

Parish magazine: The August/September edition of the Parish Magazine is out make sure you and your neighbours have a copy as it covers so much that is going on in our Parish.

Brede/Broad Village Tidy Up Saturday 22 August: Volunteers please meet in the Village Hall at 10am for coffee and briefing and if you have them bring a pick up stick and Hi-fiz jacket they and gloves will be provided at the Hall for those without. If possible teams of two will be sent out . The more who join the effort the more ground can be covered. If you are visiting our beautiful Village do not dump your litter here or any where else in Sussex. It is such an unnecessary eyesore. It is also a good time to look around your own property’s and make sure hedges do not hang over footpaths and roads. The Parish Council have been out looking to see who has the best garden, look in the Brede Newsletter that will be dropping through your door all the categories are in there as well as other information.

Future Events: Friday 21st August the Rainbow Trout are holding their first Comedy Club Night!! 3 comedians hand picked by the famous comedy club, live in the Garden Room at the pub from 7.30pm. This is a ticket only event and spaces are limited. Tickets have gone on sale and have already started selling so if you want to go along they advise you to get in quickly.

Another 2 dates for your diary are: Friday 2nd October and Friday 11th December. 2nd October when they have their Brilliant Blues Brothers Tribute night with a 2 course meal. Singing all the favourites such as Soul-man and Tail feather, the Professional act will be entertaining you all night. They have played many famous venues around the country and it promises to be a great night. let them know as soon as you can! 01424 882031

Brede Players are holding auditions on 3 September at 7.00pm in the Community hall on the Recreation Ground in Broad Oak for those who wish to take part in their new production; ‘Pantostein,’ which will be a scarily silly pantomime.
