A relatively new venture aimed at people who have suffered various cardiac problems has been launched at Summerfields Leisure Centre in Hastings.

All the instructors are fully qualified and it is hoped to attract people who are in the various stages of rehabilitation and would like to take advantage of the opportunity to receive the proper instructions and exercises to aid their full recovery. The classes are every Monday and Thursday at 11.30am and the bus service, as we now have it, stops outside the Leisure Centre door. If you would like to try please, contact Toby Whitehead on 07793-241417 or e-mail [email protected], who can give you full details.

Brede Cricket Club’s last remaining games this season will be away to Lydd on Sunday, September 16 and finishing against Winchelsea on September 23. Both matches start at 1.00 pm.

The clock in the tower of St. George’s Church has for some time now been giving a bit of trouble with its time-keeping and chiming. It is around 150 years old and, as far as can be ascertained, has possibly not had a complete overhaul in all that time. A company who are experienced in dealing with these old clocks has given an estimate of around £5,500 to repair and make new parts as necessary. For the many people who live nearby or pass the church regularly no doubt miss the regular chiming. The Bellringers are trying to raise funds to go towards the appeal and applications for grants where possible are being made. If anyone would like to make a donation or help with some fund-raising would they please contact Andrew Burchett on 01424-882727 or e-mail [email protected].

It won’t be long now before another Poppy Appeal comes around and once again a shortage of house-to-house collectors is likely to occur. If you think that you might be able to help with this and have a few hours to spare at the end of October and a little while into November please contact Mrs. Beryl Crouch on 01424-882120. The demands on the Poppy Appeal never seem to decrease as the years go by.

The Mobile Library calls again next week on Tuesday, September 18, from 3.00 to 3.40 pm in Oakhill Drive and 3.50 to 4.25 pm in Reedswood Road.
