Britian's Got Talent stars launch Bognor's Flex on the Beach

UNLIKELY dance heroes of Britain's Got Talent, Stavros Flatley, offered some showbiz sparkle to the launch of Arun's Flex on the Beach scheme in Bognor.

The North London dynamic duo praised the council's fitness initiative which they checked out as they came to town entertaining families at Butlins with their crowd-pleasing routines.

More than 100 residents turned out for the event to open the 5km trail which features more than two dozen pieces of seafront gym equipment to inspire a healthier lifestyle.

Those at the launch were able to lap up a complimentary Flex On the Beach non-alcoholic cocktail conjured up by nearby Beachcroft Hotel and health instructors from Butlins were also on hand to offer advice on using the wide range of equipment.

The 5km trail was secured with a 36,600 grant from environmental body SITA and additional funding of 10,000 from Ben Cheal, managing director of Roffey Homes.

It includes a series of exercise stations from West Park along the seafront to Gloucester Road, with the option to detour to Hotham Park, before returning to the promenade and along to Longbrook Park.

Stavros Flatley's senior member, Demetri Demetriou, said: "The launch went really well '“ it's such a beautiful place down here at Bognor and me and my son Lagi enjoyed checking out all this equipment which has been very good fun for us.

"Being Mediterranean we have quite a healthy diet and try to look after ourselves and think things like this are a very good idea.

"It's been an amazing year for us '“ we have just got back from doing a TV advert in Cyprus and have had a great time here at Butlins '“ they've looked after us so well.

"If people had asked us a year ago what we'd have been doing I could never have imagined this.

"If it all ends tomorrow we can take a bow and say we've had a brilliant time."
