Theatre: We are all hoping the weather will be fine and dry for the Rude Mechanical Theatre’s visit to Burwash tonight. They will be performing The comedy of Babi Babbett in The Swan Meadow playing fields from 7.30pm. Don’t forget to bring your own chairs/blankets to sit on and something warm to wear as the temperature can dip quite sharply on the field. You are very welcome to take along your picnic and have it at the filed before the show begins. Tickets are on sale at Londis or call the box office on 01323 501260. The Burwash Playing fields association will be serving hot drinks and light refreshments during the interval. They will even fill your hot water bottle if it gets really cold. Parking will be available at the field.

Coffee Morning: Tomorrow Saturday, several of us are getting together and holding a special coffee morning in aid of St Michael’s Hospice, to help them replace smaller items lost in the recent fire. Please do come along and support us. We are open from 10.30am to 12.30pm. in the Burwash Village hall. Tea/coffee and cake or cream scones will be available for refreshments. There will be a stall of beautiful home made cakes, a guess the weight of the cake ( rich fruit and prettily decorated),a raffle, tombola, books good bric a brac an a couple of games to keep you amused while you drink you coffee. Entry is £2 and includes you refreshments. Free parking in the Church car park opposite the hall.

Happy café: This is a new venture that has begun in Burwash. It is held at The Bear Motel every Monday from 10.30am and is for anyone who is interested in happiness and well being. It is a great way to meet old friends and make new ones, getting together for a chat and a drink. You are all welcome to go along.

BLG: The members of the Burwash Ladies Group will be meeting on Wednesday. They are to enjoy a Summer Luncheon at the Burwash Pavilion at 12.30pm. The ladies of this group enjoy a great variety of meetings and outings each month. They will be back at the hall in September and would be delighted to welcome new members, they meet on the second Wednesday of each month.

Bateman’s: Throughout most of august you can take one of the Summer Garden tours and tea. Until 22 August the head gardener will guide you round the estate to give an insight into how Kipling transformed the quiet corner of Sussex into a garden for his family, his writing and a retreat from celebrity life. Normal entrance fees plus £15 to include a cream team. Booking is essential so please ring 01435 882302.

Jungle Book: Also at Bateman’s the ever popular family fun day will be held, with the celebration of Kipling’s The Jungle book. Lots to entertain and occupy with story telling, activities and following the jungle trail. Making animals from paper plates or pine cones or having faces painted. Tree climbing, pond dipping it is a great way to entertain the children. Normal admission and separate charges will apply.

After 8’: The Burwash Common After Eight club will have their August meeting on Wednesday with a special evening garden party. Each member will be taking along something for the food table and will be able to enjoy the beauty of the garden and friendship of fellow members.

Cricket: If you are interested in going to watch the England women’s cricket match against Australia at Hove with the Seagulls Over Burwash, you have until Friday 14 to book a seat. The coach will leave Hurst Green at 4.45pm and Burwash at 5pm. Tickets are £15 for adults and £6 for under 16’s to include coach and entrance to the game. To book please call Tesky on 01580 860625.
