Burwash

Music: Tonight is music night at the Burwash Common Pavilion. Local amateur musicians and singers will be there to entertain you. The fun begins at 8pm. entry is free and the licenced bar will be open. This is a great way to spend an evening with friends and enjoy the talents of people in our communities. Everyone is welcome to go along.

Lunch: The Age UK, Burwash branch will be enjoying a delicious freshly cooked lunch at the Bear motel on Monday at 12 noon. If you are 55 and over you are welcome to go along and join them. The meal is £8 each and consists of two courses and coffee. To book a place please call Jean Plummer on 01435 883483. She may be able to arrange transport if you are unable to get there under your own steam.

Bowls: The Burwash bowls club committee will be meeting on Monday evening, to catch up and arrange the coming new season. They will be discussing their cake & produce stall at the fair, do come and see us there if you are interested in joining this great sports club. The club will also be running a bowling game that day. The meeting will also be looking forward to the new term. We will be back for club night on Monday 7 September and every Monday after that. We meet at the village hall from 6.30pm until 9 to 9.30pm. New members are always welcome so why not come and give it a go. Playout: On Wednesday A summer Playout will be held at the High Weald Child Centre in Steallands Drive in Ticehurst. The children will have broken up for the summer so why not take them along. To find out more please call 01424 725040.

Deadline: For those who wish to enter the Horticultural society’s summer show, You are reminded that all entries must be taken to The Flower House by noon on Thursday. Te show will be staged on Saturday 1 August.

Football: The Mayfield & Burwash football clubs are holding a charity football mathc on 1st August at the Court Meadow playing fields in Mayfield in aid of Cancer Research. More details next week.

Cricket: The seagulls over Burwash are to take a coach to the Ladies England Cricket game against Australia on August 28. The coach will leave Hurst Green at 4.45pm an 1d stop in Burwash at 5pm. it will pick up from safe places enroute. If you would like to join them to watch this T20 game you need to book by 14 August. Tickets are £15 for adults and £7.50 children under 16. Call in at the post Office Burwash or call Tesky on 01580 860625.

Coffee: On Saturday 8 August a few of us are getting together to hold a coffee morning to raise funds for St Michael’s Hospice to help them replace some of the smaller items that were lost in the recent fire. if you would like to help or donate books, cakes prizes money etc we would be pleased to hear from you.
