Businesses urged to donate food to campaign

THE SALVATION Army is making a plea to all of the district’s businesses to donate unwanted stock this Christmas.

This time last year the supermarkets and local bakeries had committed to donating food for the Christmas Day feast, but they have yet to make their offer.

They need turkeys, potatoes, vegetables, stuffing, Christmas Pudding, crackers and all the other luxuries, which turn a normal Sunday roast into a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.

Any stock due to go out of date over the Christmas weekend would be welcomed with open arms by volunteers and diners.

Last year they hosted a party for more than 100 people and this year they expect to have even more.

To help in any way this Christmas call the Salvation Army centre on 01403 254624 or deliver the goods to the centre at Booth Way, Horsham.
