Car damaged in Wilton Road

A Wilton Road resident was "outraged" that her car was damaged following 18th birthday party celebrations at a nightclub.

On Friday evening Michele Meyer couldn't find a parking space right by her home so left her grey Renault Clio outside Milligan's instead.

Around midnight she heard noise in the street and noticed other residents looking out of their windows "because there was a ruckus outside."

"There was shouting and screaming - a guy causing trouble with his girlfriend," said Michele.

"Then I heard some smashing. I was thinking - that's not my car."

She didn't investigate but when her partner came home at 2.30am he discovered the damage to the Clio - the back screen had been completely smashed.

"I couldn't sleep after that...and I had to work the next day. I was livid. The whole screen had gone - he had obviously used his foot on it. He just did it because he was having a fight."

Michele has reported the crime to Sussex Police and is now hoping that anyone who was there will call in to say what happened.

Apart from the smashed backscreen there was no other damage and Michele was thankful the car stereo was not stolen. She was quoted 300 for a replacement but managed to track down a replacement on the Internet for 100.

"I want people to come forward and report it to the police. It makes me livid that no-one reported it and the car was just sitting there all night. Someone could have taken my stereo as well...It's just the inconvenience of it all."
