Check on residents at risk from cold

People have been called on to keep an eye on vulnerable residents during the cold weather.

West Sussex County Council said the elderly, babies and young children and people with pre-existing medical conditions were at most risk.

Cllr Louise Goldsmith, county council leader, said: “If you know someone who might need a bit of extra help such as neighbours and elderly relatives and friends please check they are okay.”

The council issued the following tips: have hot food and drinks; wear clothes in layers; heat homes to at least 18 degrees Celsius; check on elderly and vulnerable relatives and neighbours.
