Consultant pedalling for equipment
Dr David Ross is hoping to raise £5,000 to buy equipment to monitor his patients by tackling Britain’s highest mountain.
David said: “On top of Ben Nevis, the oxygen levels are 20 per cent lower than at sea level, so going uphill will give some idea of what it’s like to have lung disease.

“Another huge difficulty is that the lungs can’t absorb enough oxygen, and that’s a bit like running too fast, but when you have lung disease, it can be like that just sitting still, with no respite soon – imagine how frightening that can be.
“We want to be able to buy equipment to monitor patients when they’re out of sight – either on the ward or at home, so I hope people can sponsor me.”
David also cycled the Hebrides to raise funds last year, and bought an oxygen therapy tank.
