Council objects to homes bid

Residents living in Rusper Road, have opposed to an application to demolish seven houses and replace them with 36 new ones in their road.

The application for outline planning permission was submitted to Horsham District Council (HDC) by Redbrook Developments Ltd in March, eight years after a similar application was refused.

It is anticipated that the planning application will be considered by the relevant Committee at Horsham District Council (HDC) at its meeting on 1 October 2013.

HDC has consulted with CBC and received its objection on September 19.

The letter of objection states that any dwellings to the south, in Capsey Road, would be located very close to dwellings just south of them, with only a small garden to separate them.

In an aim to improve privacy for the residents of Capsey Road in the case that HDC does opt to give planning permission, CBC has recommended conditions to control side and rear windows.

Malcolm and Val Bender, of Rusper Road, have been campaigning to stop the development from taking place.

Their main concern about the application is the use of their road as a relief road for traffic from the A264.

They said: “The stretch of Rusper Road which would be affected by the application is already under extreme stress from peak hours, aggressive road use.”
