A psychiatric hospital in Crawley has been visited by a health watchdog as part of an inspection of Sussex Partnership NHS Trust.
A report by the CQC found Langley Green Hospital has ‘addressed concerns’ but the Trust as a whole has improvements to make.
Langley Green Hospital was visited by the Care Quality Commission in October 2014. At the time the regulator raised concerns around standards of care at the hospital.
Inspectors said there were seven areas the Trust needed to take action to make sure required standards were being met. These included disorganised and unclear care records, extra consultant psychiatric medical cover needed on wards and responding to patient feedback about meal times.
The CQC returned to the hospital in January 2015, when it also inspected the Trust responsible for the hospital, Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
It found that all areas where the hospital had not been meeting standards had been addressed. The overall report rated the Trust as a whole as ‘requires improvement’.
The report said: “During our last inspection of Langley Green in October 2014 we found that care records were disorganised, and information was difficult to find. At this inspection we found that the service had implemented a standard template for care records.
“This had been implemented across all four wards, which were now in a clear order, and it was possible to easily find information about people’s assessments and care plans.”
Colm Donaghy, chief executive of Sussex Partnership, said: “I would like to thank all our staff at Langley Green who have worked really hard to improve standards at the hospital and make sure we are offering the people who use the hospital high quality, safe care. There is still lots to do there, and elsewhere in the Trust, and we are not complacent about our ambition to offer outstanding care across all of our services.”
An event to help shape services is being held on July 1 from 3.30-5.30pm at Crawley Civic Hall.
