“There is a long tradition in our country of celebrating Royal jubilees, weddings, coronations and special birthdays with the lighting of beacons. I hope that community organisations, families and individuals will all join us on this very special day.” The Queen will light the Principal Beacon on April 21 at Windsor Castle.

This will be followed by the lighting of a number of beacons along the Long Walk in Windsor Great Park, including one at the Copper Horse, and then more than 1,000 beacons will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK overseas territories to celebrate this landmark birthday.
