“I’m obviously delighted,” said Mrs Smith. “I’m very pleased and very grateful for my result.
“The people of Langley Green have again shown me their support.
“I’m absolutely thrilled we’ve gained another seat.”
Gaining support, she said, gives them confidence that what they are doing is right, and enables them to see things through.
Mrs Smith acknowledged that her win came on a day when voter turnout was low.
“I think we’ve had a lot of media attention on the London Mayor election,” she said.
“I do think the population sometimes has got overloaded.”
She speculated that the PCC election and the upcoming EU referendum could have made people ‘election weary’.
