A police spokesman said officers found the teenager stabbed in his stomach at the house in West Green Drive at about 9.25pm on Wednesday (June 1).

Cllr Michael Jones, cabinet member for Public Protection and Community Engagement, said: “I do encourage the parents and guardians to keep a particularly close eye to what is going on, with the best will in the world it doesn’t take an awful lot for a really good party to turn sour.”

He added he hoped the incident was a one-off saying a number of young people’s parties in Crawley had got a ‘bit out of hand’ in the last year.

A Sussex Police spokesman said officers dispersed some 200 young people after receiving reports of a ‘large and noisy party’.

He said: “At the house officers found a local 18-year old man who had sustained a stab wound to his stomach. He was taken to East Surrey Hospital for treatment. The wound was not assessed as serious and he is expected to be discharged from hospital today, Thursday.”

No one has been arrested by police investigating the stabbing, said the spokesman.
