Crawley dancers join in world record attempt

The 37 dancers, ranging from five years old through to 60, were trying to break the world record for the highest number of people doing the same tap routine at the same time across various venues.”

Desire2Dance principal Kayleigh Underhill said: “We had the Mayor of Crawley and local MP Henry Smith come along to support us. After we danced we help a cake sale to raise extra funds for Children in Need.

“Alongside this Desire2Dance allowed students to wear PJs to classes all week to raise money for Children in Need.

“We have now raised £1,300 in total for Children in Need but this is not our final figure. We are unsure at this stage if we were successful in breaking the world record but we know we had an extremely fun day.

“I personally was full of pride having worked on the routine since May with my students. Doing the tap routine knowing we had raised a good amount of money for a fantastic cause whilst seeing all my students so happy and enjoying themselves made me so proud and I cannot wait to take part in the event next year.

“We have classes in ISTD Ballet, Modern, Tap and Zumba at Bewbush Barn Church starting from walking all the way through to adults. It’s never too late to start dancing, we have classes suitable for all levels.

“I would love to make Tap dancing a bigger dance style in the community.”
