Crawley man appears in court after police officer's wrist is broken

A Crawley man has been charged with GBH after a female police officer suffered a broken wrist and male collegue was given a black eye.

Police appealed for witnesses after officers were called to a woman being assaulted in Five Acres, Northgate, shortly before 8pm on Friday (May 13).

A police spokesman said Darren Josephs, 34, of Five Acres, Northgate, was arrested and charged with three counts of assault, including grievous bodily harm, common assault and assault with intent to resist arrest.

He appeared before Crawley magistrates today (Monday May 16) and will next appear before a crown court, said a spokesman for Lewes Combined Court Centre.
