Crawley man arrested after stabbing in park

A Crawley man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of GBH after a man was stabbed in a park.

Surrey Police was called to a disturbance at a recreation ground in Albury Road, Merstham, between 9.30pm and 11.50pm on Monday (April 11)

A spokesman said: “On arrival, officers found members of the public attending to an injured man in the car park of The Limes public house.

“The man, who is in his 30s, was taken to East Surrey Hospital for treatment for a stab wound which is not thought to be life threatening. He remains in hospital in a stable condition.”

A 35-year-old man from Crawley and 28-year-old woman from Redhill who were arrested on suspicion of GBH remain in custody today (April 13).

Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Joseph Easterbrook, said: “We would like to hear from any witnesses, any information, however small it may seem, could help us piece together the events surrounding the incident and I would urge anyone with any information to contact Surrey Police.”
