As a boost to the donation, a raffle and in-store collection was held, bringing the total sum donated to their local hospice to more than £6,000. The donation from the Foundation, which receives funds from the 5p carrier bag levy, will enable St Catherine’s to complete the refurbishment of the Day Hospice at its premises in Malthouse Road, Crawley.

Around 200 patients visit St Catherine’s Day Hospice each year and the donation from Morrison’s will ensure a welcoming environment is created for them.

Andy Perry from St Catherine’s said: “We are delighted to receive such a generous donation from Morrisons. Last year, St Catherine’s cared for more than 2,000 patients and their family and friends and whilst our care is provided free every day it costs us more than £17,000 to provide our services.

“Receiving less than a third of our running costs from the NHS, we rely on the generosity and support of the local community for the rest, so I’d like to say a big thank you to Morrison’s for choosing to raise funds for us.”

Georgina Innes the community Champion for Morrison’s said she was delighted that we could help St Catherine’s especially being so close to store
