Crawley mosque condemns ‘evil’ and ‘savage’ Paris attacks

A Crawley mosque has condemned terror attacks in Paris, branding them ‘evil’ and ‘savage’.

A series of terrorist attacks were carried out in the French capital on Friday (November 13) .

Gunmen and suicide bombers targeted a concert hall, a major stadium, restaurants and bars, killing 129 people and leaving hundreds wounded. More than 100 people are in a critical condition.

Safir Ahmad, secretary of the Crawley Islamic Cultural Centre and Mosque, said: “We condemn such brutal, inhumane and savage attacks committed in Paris.

“We offer our condolences to the families of those affected and stand with humanity in their condemnation of these attacks which are poles apart from the teachings of our beloved prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him). Terrorism has no religion.

“Islam is a religion of peace and mercy and does not advocate or condone the killing of innocent people. This outrageous attack is nothing but ‘EVIL’.

“Our hearts and prayers are with all the victims of violence, oppression and terror around the world. We also pray for speedy recovery for those who have been injured in the attacks.”

A minute’s silence was held at 11am across the Europe in honour of the victims of the attacks.
