“Around 2pm I was in the house on my own, I went to the bathroom and everything seemed normal - I didn’t notice nothing amiss,” she said.

“My sons came home and my youngest son asked my other son ‘where is your bike?’

“He replied it is in the kitchen, but it was not.

“In the time it took me to go to the bathroom someone had come into my house and stole a £250 pushbike from the kitchen.

“The police have been alerted.

“I just want to warn others that even when you are home keep doors, windows and gates locked.

“It is scary knowing someone came into my house and I was home alone.

“The attached picture is similar to the stolen one but the forks and seat are black.

“My son has special needs and is disabled, so the bike was his way of freedom.

“He enjoyed bike riding with his friend and had saved his DLA money to buy the bike.”

Anyone with information should phone Sussex Police on 101.
