Jenni York from Tilgate, and her three-year-old English Springer Spaniel, Oscar, won the Starters Cup semi-final for large dogs taking them onto Eukanuba Discover Dogs in London in the final in October. The Starters Cup is designed for dogs new to agility, in Grades 1 and 2 of the sport.

Jenni and Oscar won in the large category after succeeding in a jumping round and an agility round, from which the top placed dogs then took part in the semi-final. They, together with the top 12 large dogs from the semi-final, the top six medium and six small dogs, will compete for the Starters Cup title in the finals.

Jenni said: “I was surprised and delighted to win the Starters Cup as this was our first trip to the festival. This is Oscar’s first full season and he has exceeded all my expectations. I felt a lot of pressure running last but he took it all in his stride and didn’t put a foot wrong. I couldn’t be happier with him and massively looking forward to running him at Discover Dogs.”

“I would not be here without the help and support of Bridge House agility as well as my family and friends. But a massive thank you to Sian Illingworth who has helped me train Oscar from day one, without her we would not be where we are today.”
