Cinema-goers in Crawley will now be able to experience special effects such as wind, fog, lightning, bubbles, water, rain and scents when they watch a film.
Cineworld Crawley will be only the third cinema in the country to get 4DX.
Hailing from South Korea, it is considered by some to be one of the biggest innovations in cinematic technology.
A Cineworld spokesman said: “The Cineworld Crawley 4DX auditorium will stimulate all five senses through high-tech motion seats and special effects such as wind, fog, lightning, bubbles, water, rain and scents.
“Available in both 2D and 3D formats, 4DX works in perfect synchronicity with the action on screen – creating the most exhilarating cinema experience yet.”
The 4DX auditorium, which is soon to be under construction and take approximately two months to complete. It will have 136 specially designed seats, plus a curved screen measuring 12m by 6.6m.
The 15-screen cinema will also be getting a full upgrade with new seats , as well as the foyer, bar area, concessions, and box office refitted.

We’re the third cinema in the whole of the UK to offer 4DX to our audiences and we cannot wait to welcome customers to come and try this new experience. We are always looking at the latest innovations in technology and we’re confident Cineworld Crawley will be the best place to watch a movie.”
Cineworld Crawley 4DX auditorium opens on November 19 2015 at 00.01 with a screening of the final instalment of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.
