Bones found in Pease Pottage confirmed as belonging to missing Southgate man
DNA analysis has confirmed that bones discovered in a forest and by a lake in Pease Pottage are those of missing Southgate man Jean Leveque.
A fisherman found two bones near a pond in Parish Lane on Monday January 26, prompting a police search which resulted in the rest of the body being found in Tilgate Forest on Tuesday February 17.
Analysis by a forensic archaeologist and by DNA comparison has confirmed the bones were Mr Leveque’s, police said.
His death continues to be treated as unexplained rather than suspicious, and the coroner has been informed, police added.
Mr Leveque, 42, of Hawth Close, Crawley was reported missing in May last year.
