Chichester business break-ins: district council issues statement

The district council has issued a statement following a recent spate of break-ins to shops in the city centre.

It follows at least four break-ins in the city over the past two weeks. The latest being East Street's My Phone which had its windows smashed in in the early hours of this morning.

The latest break-in comes after Good News in St Martin's Street was burgled, followed by Real Eating Company in North Street hours later and then Lush in East Street.

"Our Community Wardens patrol the city centre on a daily basis and report any crime or suspicious activity. We also share our CCTV coverage with the police so that they can try and take action against perpetrators.

Sussex Police have not linked the burglaries at this time.
