Crawley College incident: Deputy Labour leader Angela Rayner says staff and students acted ‘tremendously’
Deputy Labour Party leader Angela Rayner has paid tribute to the ‘tremendous’ actions of staff and students during a major incident at Crawley College.
Speaking to this newspaper during a visit to Crawley today, April 27, The Shadow First Secretary of State said it was a ‘scary’ situation after armed police swooped on the college.
Ms Rayner added: “By all accounts the staff acted tremendously and the students did [too].
“It’s really scary when something like that happens especially on your doorstep.”
The response to the incident was ‘robust’, the deputy leader said.
She added: “The police are here, there’s a big strong presence now.
“[It was] very very lucky nobody was seriously injured.”
