Crawley College incident: MP praises police and staff for 'professionalism, calm and care'

MP Henry Smith has praised the professionalism of the police and Crawley College staff after the incident today.

Pupils and staff were evacuated from the college and two staff were treated for minor injuries, not gunshot wounds.

An 18-year-old man was arrested and is in custody following the incident, which is not being treated as a terrorist incident.

A heavy police presence was at the college all of Monday evening and there were witness reports a teacher 'rugby-tackled' the attacker.

And Crawley MP Henry Smith was quick to praise everyone invoolved.

He tweeted: "I pay tribute to Sussex Police and Crawley College staff for their professionalism, calm and care in responding to the town centre fire arms incident this afternoon."
