Deliberate fires continue in Bognor Regis despite warnings

The fire service is urging people not to 'play with fire' after an increase in arson incidents in Bognor Regis.

A spate of at least 15 arson incidents across Chichester, Bognor Regis and Littlehampton sparked a warning from the fire service and police earlier this month.

"Despite our warning, we are still attending a number of deliberate fires in Hotham Park, Bognor," a spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said.

"Along with Arun Police, we are urging people not to play with fire.

"It might seem like harmless fun, but a deliberately started fire can very easily get out of control."

The fire service had previously said at least 15 fires started deliberately involving public toilets, bins and skips were brought to their attention since the end of October.

One cluster of arsons took place in one day with the fire service being called to five blazes in public toilets in Chichester and Bognor Regis on October 20. Read more here
