Eastbourne armed police incident – man released without charge

A man who was arrested when armed police swarmed a property in Eastbourne has been released without charge.

Officers descended on the scene in Compton Street after being alerted to an incident at an address there on Monday (May 25).

Sussex Police said they made contact with a man in his 30s, who was arrested nearby just before 2pm on suspicion of assault and criminal damage.

He was taken into police custody.

However, the force said today (May 29) the man had since been released without charge but has been issued with a domestic violence protection order.
