Ex-officer pleads guilty to making indecent child photos

A former Surrey Police inspector has pleaded guilty to eight counts of making indecent images of children.

Christopher Goodman, 43, appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court today (August 5).

The court heard he ‘made’ a total of 92 indecent images by downloading them onto home computer equipment between October 2012 and August 2013.

Four of the images were class A, the most serious category, involving particularly violent and graphic scenes of teenage girls.

JPs heard Goodman, of Frobisher Gardens, Guildford, accessed the images through a mainstream pornographic site.

He was released on conditional bail to be sentenced at Lewes Crown Court on September 4.

Conditions included to stay away from children aged under 16, save through social services with a risk assessment or through inadvertent or unavoidable contact, and not to access three email accounts without the approval of an officer in the case.

The probation service were due to make pre-sentence reports on Goodman before the hearing.

A spokesman for Surrey Police said he was dismissed in August 2014 because of the case.

He was an inspector stationed at Reigate.

Sussex Police’s Paedophile On-Line Investigation Team investigated him at the request of Surrey Police.
