Police in Crawley arrested five people in the early of hours of this morning (Wednesday 28 October) in connection with a number of burglaries.
Officers were called at about 1.15am to Hazelwick Road, Crawley to a report that garages had been broken into. At about 1.40am, police were called to a similar report in Cherry Lane, Crawley.
A silver Ford Mondeo was seen driving away from the area and a car matching that description was found in Juniper Road.
A 16-year-old boy and two 19-year-old men, all from Crawley, were subsequently arrested on suspicion of burglary. A 17-year-old girl from East Grinstead was also arrested on suspicion of burglary.
Officers searched another garage in The Dingle, Crawley at around 5am and a 63-year-old local man, who arrived at the scene, was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
All five people have been bailed until January 29 2016.
Detective sergeant Vicki Tomlinson said: “Thanks to the quick response from members of the public in reporting these break-ins, police were in attendance and made these arrests.
“We are keen to identify any further victims and ask residents in the Langley Green, Gossops Green and Poundhill areas to check their garages and sheds.”
