Craig Goodwin, who carried out an assault on a woman in a hotel bedroom at Gatwick, was imprisoned for a total of three years and three months. Goodwin was in breach of a restraining order preventing him from contacting the woman, but went to the hotel with her on September 25 this year. It was about a month after his release from prison for assaulting the same victim. The 33-year-old became jealous when the victim spoke with other men in the bar at the hotel. In the early hours of September 26 he assaulted her, then when she tried to escape, he continued to assault her. The victim was left highly distressed and hotel staff called 999. Officers attending later found Goodwin hiding in the bushes outside the hotel. He claimed the victim’s injuries had been sustained when they bumped heads making a TikTok video. But officers from the West Sussex Safeguarding Investigations Unit (SIU) worked hard to bring charges against Goodwin, of Well Road, Pagham. Aaron Murray, 25, of Tideswell Close, Braintree, Essex, was sentenced for his role in running County Lines drug dealing into West Sussex and across the South East, following an operation involving several police forces. He was sentenced to a total of five years and six months imprisonment when he appeared in custody at Hove Crown Court on Thursday 11 November, having previously admitted being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin.

Robin James Elms, 23, of Hunston, near Chichester, was given a sentence of more than 20 years for a series of sexual offences against children while he was working in private homes as a freelance childrens' nanny and babysitter. He was sentenced to 20 years and six months at Portsmouth Crown Court on Thursday 11 November, having previously pleaded guilty to 20 offences - 10 counts of sexual assault, five counts of taking indecent videos of children, and four counts of voyeurism - against a total of nine children between the ages of two and 14 - and one of sexually assaulting one adult man. The sexual assault on the adult was not related to his work as a nanny or babysitter. Elms will spend 15 and a half years of the sentence in prison and five years on extended prison licence supervision. Seven of the children, in three households, and the adult, were from West Sussex and two of the children, in two households, were from East Kent.
