Intruder breaks into County Mall via fire exit grill

An intruder broke into County Mall via a fire exit grill and attempted to steal cash from a children’s play area.

A police spokesman said the shopping centre was broken into overnight on Sunday (February 14).

He said: “The grille was a metal mesh located on the door of a fire exit which was levered aside to facilitate the break-in.

“The door gave access to the soft play area.”

A charity box could not be removed because it was chained down.

People with information were asked to call 101 quoting serial 621 of 15/02.
