Magistrates Court results for the Crawley area for January 29 - February 3

The following are results, provided by HM Courts Service, of cases sentenced by Sussex northern magistrates, at Crawley from January 29 - February 3.

Tyler Harvey, 26, of The Grange, Crawley, pleaded guilty to causing damage to furniture. The offence took place at East Grinstead on October 18. It took place during the period of a suspended sentence, made by an earlier court for an offence of engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour. He was sentenced to a total of 16 weeks in prison. Magistrates also issued a restraining order prohibiting from entering Brook Close in East Grinstead. He was ordered to pay £200 in compensation.

John Ward, 30, of Temple Grove, Burgess Hill, pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Zafira on Church Road, Burgess Hill, on September 7, while disqualified. He also pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis, when required to do by police under the Road Traffic Act 1988, and to driving with no insurance on the same date. He was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison, suspended for two years. The court made a community order with a requirement of a six month electronically monitored curfew between 8pm and 8am. He was banned from driving for five years.

Kevin Davidson, 28, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to stealing cosmetic products worth £1,318, from the County Mall, Crawley, on January 6. He also pleaded guilty to stealing cosmetic products, worth £733, from the same store on January 4. He was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison. Magistrates said the reason for the sentence was his record of offending.

Niamh Leahy-Salvage, 19, of Albion Way, Horsham, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. The offence took place at Horsham on October 9. He was ordered to pay £80 in compensation.

Harry Caen-Reilly, 26, of Fern Bank Road, Ascot, Surrey, pleaded guilty to driving a Peugeot vehicle on the M23 Gatwick Link Road, on June 4, with cocaine and cannabis in his blood stream. He also pleaded guilty to driving with no insurance or MOT on the same date. The court made a community order with a requirement of 60 hours of unpaid work. He was fined £120 and banned from driving for one year.

Rhys Kearvill, 25, of The Nursery, Burgess Hill, indicated a plea of guilty to driving a Volkswagen vehicle dangerously on the B2036 Balcome Road, Haywards Heath, on August 29. He also pleaded guilty to being in possession of a quantity of cocaine at The Welkin, Haywards Heath, on the same date. The court made a community order with a requirement of 150 hours of unpaid work. He was fined £80 and banned from driving for one year.

Rodon Marku, 27, of Streamside Close, Enfield, London, pleaded guilty to being in possession of cannabis with intent to supply it to another. The offence took place at Gatwick on December 3. He also pleaded guilty to being in possession of an article with a sharply pointed blade at Gatwick on the same date. The court made a community order with a requirement of 300 hours of unpaid work.

January 30:

Shannon Middleton, 42, of Brighton Road, Burgess Hill, indicated a plea of guilty to being in possession of a quantity of amphetamine. The offence took place at Burgess Hill on February 16. He was given a six month conditional discharge.

January 31:

Mihai Apostu, 28, of Railey Road, Crawley, pleaded guilty to driving a Suzuki motorcycle on Woodfield Road, Crawley, on January 1, while over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 45 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes. He also pleaded guilty to driving with no insurance on the same date. He was fined a total of £550 and banned from driving for 15 months.

Michael Banks, 18, of Richmond Road, Seaford, pleaded guilty to causing £800 damage to a plate 
glass door at Albion Way, Horsham, on January 17. He was ordered to pay £500 in compensation.

Rajat Agrawal, 30, of Blackthorns, Hassocks, pleaded guilty to driving a Mercedes vehicle on Muster Green South, on Haywards Heath, on January 18, while over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 47 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes. He was 
fined £120 and banned from driving for 14 months.

Ilhan Arslan, 36, of Manton Road, Enfield, London, pleaded guilty to driving a Mercedes vehicle on London Road, Bolney, Haywards Heath, on January 19, while more than twice over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 81 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes. 
He was fined £1,538 and banned from driving for 35 months.

Leanne Evans, 31, of Stephenson Way, Crawley, pleaded guilty to stealing a fragrance gift box, worth £85, from Boots at the Mall, Crawley, on January 2. She also pleaded guilty to stealing toiletries worth £100, from the same store on December 30. She was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison, Magistrates said the reason for sentence was that she had showed a ‘flagrant disregard for people and their property, aggravated by her previous record of offending.

Marius Malijauskas, 34, of London Road, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to driving a Land Rover on Brighton Road, Crawley, on January 18, while more than twice over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 92 microgrammes. 
The legal limit is 35 microgrammes. He also pleaded guilty to driving with a trailer which had insufficient tyre tread and an inappropriate, hand-written number plate, on the same date. 
The court made a community order with a requirement of 60 hours of unpaid work and banned him from driving for three years.
