A man has been arrested on suspicion of theft and common assault after a police hunt in Crawley town centre.

Police were called to The Broadway, Crawley following a report of shoplifting at around 9.50am today (Wednesday March 30).

A police spokesman said the 35-year-old Crawley man ran from shop staff when police arrived at the scene.

Crawley Police tweeted: “We flooded the area and he was located and arrested.”
