Passenger arrested for stealing Gatwick staff’s phone

A passenger has been arrested for stealing a member of staff’s mobile phone in Gatwick Airport.

Police and security staff found the thief following an area search.

The passenger stole the phone in the South Terminal’s International Departures Lounge.

Gatwick Police tweeted: “Great joint work by the team and @Gatwick_Airport @TonyJGilbert BDO’s team.

“Passenger decided they would steal a member of staff’s phone from the International Departures Lounge in the South Terminal...WRONG... passenger located after area search... detained... recovered phone.”

Tony Gilbert is Gatwick Airport’s police liaison and VIP security manager.
