Police are appealing for witnesses after three people were racially abused in Crawley on Wednesday, October 16.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said the victims, a 32-year-old Asian man and his wife, also 32, were in the car park at Asda in Peglar Way when they got into a minor altercation about parking with two women at around 5.30pm. A third man, the victims’ friend, came over to intervene.

No visible injuries were caused but further witnesses are being sought.

A police spokesman said: “A 48-year-old woman and a 26-year-old woman from Pulborough, were both arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated assault and harrassment. they have been questioned and bailed until November 11.”

Witnesses were asked to call 101 quoting serial 1117 of 7/10. Alternatively, call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
