Police arrest two after £2,500 worth of skin care products stolen from Burgess Hill store

Two people have been arrested by police after thousands of pounds of skin care products were stolen from a Burgess Hill store.

Officers were called to The Martlets after security staff spotted two suspected shoplifters, Inspector Darren Taylor said.

The two people were arrested at 12.30pm on February 11 on suspicion of stealing £2,500 worth of skin care products the previous week, he added.

They have since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Inspector Taylor added: “You couldn’t make (it) up!”

Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne praised the officers involved. She said: “Well spotted. Clearly successful policing is built on good foundation.”

People took to social media to praise police. One said: “You simply cannot gloss over the impact neighbourhood police officers make.”

Another added: “All in the Line of Beauty.”
