Police investigating the murder of Janet Müller, found dead in Ifield last week, were in Hove yesterday (Thursday March 19) asking people if they saw her the day before she died.

Miss Müller, 21, was found dead in the boot of a burning car in Rusper Road, Ifield on Friday March 13.

Yesterday, officers stopped passers-by near Mill View Hospital, where Miss Müller was last seen, and handed them leaflets with a photo of her.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen her leave or walk in the area.

Detective chief inspector Karen Mizzi of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team said: “I am appealing for information from anyone who may have seen Janet on Thursday night (March 12).

“Officers will be talking to people and just asking them to stop for a moment and think about whether they were in the area at the relevant time and whether they recall seeing Janet.

“We are trying to build a picture of what happened to her from when she was last seen at the hospital.”

Miss Müller, a University of Brighton student from Eastbourne, was of mixed race, slim and 5’ 7’ with shoulder length dark brown afro hair and brown eyes. She was wearing dark clothing.

Christopher Jeffrey-Shaw, 26, of Lakeside, Beckenham, London, has been charged with her murder.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Sussex Police on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting Operation Madeira or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
