Police are investigating an alleged assault at a Sikh temple in Crawley after a dispute broke out between two groups.

A Sussex Police spokesman said two officers were invited as guests to a ceremony at Siri Guru Singh Sabha in Spencers Road, West Green, on Wednesday (December 2).

The spokesman said: “During the event a dispute arose between some of those present and other people who arrived, over matters apparently relating to the management of the premises.

“The two officers were not involved in the dispute and after a while they left the premises.

“There was no evidence of damage or injury as the officers left.

“We subsequently received an allegation that a man had been assaulted, causing no injury, in a room at the premises.

“That matter is being investigated and another man has been interviewed under caution in relation to it but not arrested at this stage The investigation continues.”
