Officers say that rural areas are a target for criminals during lockdown.

Police community support officers are liaising with farmers and countryside businesses offering crime prevention advice.

Meanwhile, a police spokesman said: “We have also increased our high-visibility patrols around rural beauty spots and areas popular with people taking their lockdown exercise as these can also be attractive to opportunistic thieves.”

Sergeant Tom Carter, operational lead for rural and wildlife crime, has also appealed to people visiting the countryside to ‘respect the rural environment.’
Anyone who sees any suspicions behaviour can report it online or call 101.
